What is Success (in a world filled with technology, chaos and competition)?
Far too often, we may lose sight of the important things in life. We might even focus more on our business than our personal lives. Or, there might even be the common offense of putting too much emphasis on money, and how much of it we have, instead of the wealth of personal love and connections.
This is one of my favorite Ralph Waldo Emerson poem about success, reflection, and gratitude. It inspires me and reminds me not to lose sight of those truly important things to know how much I have succeeded.
To laugh often and much, to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children, to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends, to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others, to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch… to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded!
